Die Osram Ultravitalux (Osram: UV-Technik) wurde mit dem Ziel konstruiert eine Lampe mit dem Strahlungsgemisch der Sonne zu schaffen, gleichzeitig aber einfach in der Handhabung zu sein (normale E27-Fassung, kein Vorschaltgerät). Sie wird industriell eingesetzt zur Härtung von speziellen Klebern und Kunststoffen, Sonnensimulation bei der industriellen Materialprüfung, Belichtung von UV-sensiblen Photoresistlacken, Prüfung der Tropentauglichkeit sowie zur künstlichen Alterung/Bewitterung. Gleichzeitig wird die Lampe auch zu kosmetischen Zwecken beworben Osram: UV-Kosmetik, wobei Osram klar stellt, dass sich bei der Lampe nicht um ein medizinisches Produkt handelt.
Keine! Laut Auskunft per email werden beide Lampen von der Osram Tochtergesellschaft Radium entwickelt, gefertig und vertreiben.
Häufig empfohlen wird: tägliche Bestrahlung, jeweils 20 Minuten, aus etwa 80 cm-100 cm Entfernung.
Aus 80 cm Entfernung beträgt der Lichtkegel mit UV-B-Werten zwischen 100 und 200 µW/cm² etwa 20 cm Durchmesser, der Kegel mit Werten größer 50 µW/cm² immerhin fast 60 cm (Messungen www.uvguide.co.uk, siehe unten). Es ist also nicht zwingend notwendig, dass sich das Tier exakt unter der Lampe aufhält.
Gelegentlich liest man, dass Reptilien langsam an die UV-Strahlung gewöhnt werden müssen, d.h. man soll zuerst mit 5 Minuten zu beginnen, und wöchentlich um eine Minute zu steigern. Da die UV-Werte in 1 m Abstand aber geringer sind, als in unseren Breitengraden die Werte durch die Sonne zur Mittagszeit, halte ich dieses Verfahren nicht unbedingt für nötig. Es kann aber nicht schaden.
Für wichtiger halte ich es, eine neue Lampe zuerst etwa 10 Stunden einbrennen zu lassen, bevor sie über das Terrarium gehängt wird. Die UV-Werte einer neuen Lampe liegen um über 30 % höher als die Werte bei einer 15 Stunden alten Lampe, und könnten (je nach Abstand) zu hoch sein.
Osram gibt eine Nutzlebensdauer von 1000 Stunden an. Wegen der langen Lebensdauer und der geringen täglichen Nutzung gehört diese Lampe zu den günstigsten UVB-Strahlern. Neu kostet die Lampe etwa 45 €.
